The Retail / Home Furnishings Challenge

A premium furniture retailer was losing sales at the consideration stage: customers were unwilling to commit to high-value purchases without being certain the furniture would fit and look right in their own homes. Showroom visits were declining post-pandemic and the website conversion rate was 0.8%.

Our Augmented Reality Solution

Prish Group built a WebAR product visualiser requiring no app download. Customers scan a QR code on any product page or in-store display and instantly place true-to-scale 3D models of the furniture in their own rooms using their phone camera. Over 200 products were modelled to photorealistic quality with all available material finishes.

The Outcome

Website conversion rate increased from 0.8% to 2.3%. Average order value rose by 18% as customers who used the AR feature purchased larger items with greater confidence. In-store QR scans generated 14,000 unique AR sessions in the first month, extending dwell time by an average of 8 minutes.

Questions About Augmented Reality

Does WebAR require customers to download an app?

No WebAR runs entirely in the mobile browser via a QR code scan. Customers point their camera at the QR code on the product page or in-store display, the AR experience launches immediately in their browser, and they can place true-to-scale 3D models in their own space. No app download, no friction. This is the critical advantage over native AR apps for consumer retail.

How accurate are the 3D models in a WebAR product visualiser?

Models are produced to the exact dimensions of the physical product, so placement accuracy in a room is precise. Material finishes fabric textures, wood grain, metalwork are produced from photographic references of the actual product materials. We validate final models against physical samples before deployment to ensure colour and texture accuracy.

How many products can be included in a WebAR catalogue?

There is no hard limit the AR experience loads only the model for the product the customer is currently viewing, so catalogue size does not affect performance. This engagement launched with 200 products. Adding new products requires modelling the new item (typically 2–3 days per product at this quality level) and uploading to the content management system we provide with the platform.
